Why trust Smooth 42?
Smooth 42 is a family owned company located in the heart of Saskatchewan in a small town called Brownlee, where owners Sacha Elez and Adam Dombowsky purchased the old curling rink in 2017 for $1. They spent over a year renovating it by hand to become the home of Smooth 42 Craft Distillery.
Smooth 42 traditionally makes craft liquor like Apple Pie Moonshine and CRE8 Eco Vodka, which are both available here on Splitsies, but when the pandemic struck Canada, Smooth 42 was the first distillery in Saskatchewan to switch their production over to making hand sanitizer.
Their goal was to get as much sanitizer out to frontline workers as possible so they donated everything they made in the first 10 days to police, firefighters, paramedics and the like, but after depleting their budget of $75,000 they decided that they had to start selling their hand sanitizer in order to keep production going.
Before too long they noticed there were a lot of very poor-quality hand sanitizers flooding the market, which left a bad smell and unpleasant residue on people’s hands. The reason for this is due to the use of “technical grade” ethanol being used rather than the traditional “USP grade” (pharmaceutical grade) ethanol that was required in hand sanitizer before the pandemic.
Technical grade ethanol is typically used as an additive for blending with gasoline and has known carcinogens in it, which is why Health Canada has advised that pregnant and breastfeeding mothers should not be using it as it may have adverse effects on their baby’s development.
Luckily for you, Smooth 42 believes in using top quality ingredients above all else.
Smooth 42 has only ever produced USP grade hand sanitizer and when they realized that children were being subjected to possible cancer-causing chemicals, they decided to launch the Little Hands brand of sanitizer as a safe choice that parents, kids and expecting mothers can trust.
Adam and Sacha have 8 children between their two families and Little Hands is the only product that they use on them since they know that it’s 100% safe with absolutely no unnecessary chemicals.
